Position Overview

Due to company growth, UpClick has an immediate need for a ‘Senior Software Engineering Manager’ to expand its core development group. Developers work on both existing Web-based products and help further develop our key features.

We are looking for someone with a technical background and proven web/online software development experience. The successful candidate would have previous work experience with some of the largest websites with upwards of hundreds of thousands of users.  You are able to understand the big picture of development and translate it into technical requirements and schedules.  You will gather metrics and sets standards and guidelines for the team.  You will think strategically, architect and direct the development process.

You will report to the Director of Software Engineering and work proactively in managing a fast growing team of 10+ software developers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team and provide technical leadership on existing and future Web projects
• Work with Web team engineers, co-design, influence and approve software architecture
• Oversee the application of all of your projects' milestones.
• Be accountable for Web projects' code quality
• Bear responsibility for overall software performance
• Oversee all internal and external project technical dependencies, risks and critical paths
• Ensure that timeliness and stakeholder satisfaction are met

Requirements

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent training or professional experience
• 10 years of industry experience
• Experience working on a large scale commercial website with 100,000++ users
• Focus on front end web technologies
• Proficiency in .NET, C#, ASP, XML and Javascript
• Strong experience in SQL Server and MySQL
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (MySQL/Oracle)
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
• Quick learner and innovator
